Bring an assistant to your next adventure
Find a story to play, explore ideas, or build a new branch together. WebMCP lets a compatible AI browser assistant use tools on the page you have open. You see the changes in the same editor you already use.
1. Open GameBook Creator with your assistant
- Use a browser agent that supports WebMCP or “site tools”. An ordinary chat window with a pasted link is not enough.
- In the ChatGPT desktop app’s built-in browser, open GameBook Creator alongside your chat. Enable Site tools in Settings → Browser → Permissions, then check the address bar’s Site tools menu. Availability depends on your app version, model, and workspace. Check the current supported setup (opens in a new tab).
- Open the Library to search, or sign in to GameBook Creator in that same browser to edit your own books. Keep the relevant page open while you chat.
No GameBook Creator plugin or API key is needed. This guide has no story tools of its own: they appear in the Library and in an existing book’s editor.
2. Find your next story
New here? Start in the public Library. You can search without an account, then follow a result to play using the reader’s normal choices.
Open the LibraryFind a gamebook
Search this library for English gamebooks. Show me their titles and links so I can choose one to play.
You can also ask for a title, author, language, or genre. Search covers public books; private and PIN-protected books are excluded. These tools do not play the story or manage your reading progress.
If your assistant cannot find the tools
My browser has no site tools
WebMCP is experimental and is not available in every browser or AI chat. Check the supported setup linked above, update your app, and check your model and workspace permissions. You can keep searching, writing, and publishing with the normal website controls.
Search works, but editing does not
Editing tools only appear in an existing book’s editor. Sign in in the assistant’s browser, open a book you can edit, and finish any draft recovery prompts. For a new book, click Save first. Account restrictions still apply.
The tools disappeared or a change failed
Tools belong to the open page. Return to the Library or the book’s editor and ask your assistant to check the available site tools again. Before refreshing, check the draft save status. Resolve any save errors or conflicts in the editor and review the current draft before asking the assistant to retry.
